Amsterdam – A Metropolis between Tradition and modern life

Although Amsterdam is renowned for its traditional buildings, many wonderful examples of modern architecture, such as the ING House, can be found in Amsterdam as well. Amsterdam is also home to 40 museums. The traditional pubs in the city centre are also a favourite destination for visitors, as the area offers a unique and inviting atmosphere. And for those who simply prefer to fall into bed after a fulfilling and eventful day – no problem: Amsterdam has more than 30,000 hotel rooms to offer.

Schiphol
Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is the most important airport in the country and is the hub of the European continent. On a yearly basis, 58 million passengers and more than 1.4 million tons of goods are processed through Schiphol's 2,787 hectares of space.

Air conditioning and lighting are very important for Schiphol's passengers as they move smoothly from check-in to take-off. The satisfaction of passengers at Schiphol depends on the availability of high-quality, long-lasting electrical equipment over the course of decades. This is why Schiphol uses Wöhner components and a Wöhner 60 mm busbar system.

Schiphol is more than just an important intersection for European travel - it’s an airport where you can relax: more than 100 shops and 70 restaurants are on offer for Schiphol's passengers. The 60 mm busbar system from Wöhner provides a comfortable atmosphere in these areas of the airport.

The Wöhner system ensures that ventilation and air conditioning function perfectly in every lounge so that passengers can wait for their departure in complete comfort.

ING House
Directly on Ring A 10, you will notice an eye-catching, shoe-shaped building constructed on v-shaped stilts: this is the ING House. This main branch office of one of the world’s largest financial service providers comprises over 7,500 square metres and has already been honoured with multiple architecture awards.

The ING House has a “climate facade”. This means that it has a facade made entirely of glass that was built between 70 centimetres and a few metres in front of the actual facade of the building. Besides reducing street noise, the climate facade also draws in clean air from the side of the building that faces away from the motorway.

In order to ensure safe and efficient operation of the climate control and ventilation systems in the highly complex ING House, the space-saving and reliable 60 mm system from Wöhner was also installed here.

Amsterdam Arena
This multi-functional arena on the outskirts of Amsterdam has just celebrated its tenth birthday. This arena is not only home to Holland’s football series champions Ajax, but it also plays host to rock and pop greats like Robbie Williams. To guarantee the safety and security of fans at such big events, appropriate lighting and emergency lighting systems are necessary. The busbar system designed and produced by Wöhner ensures that thousands of people can enjoy themselves in safety at the Amsterdam Arena.
